Salvaje Arquitectura: Diseño que te hace sentir vivo.

Innovative proposals succeed in the International Jungle Treehouse Competition.

The final results of the “Jungle Treehouse” architecture competition announced! AG360, a leading organization of Architecture Ideas Competitions, has revealed the winning projects and honorable mentions of this exciting event. Architects and architecture students from all over the world participated in this International Architecture Competition, which took place from April to July 2022.

The "Jungle Treehouse" is presented as a unique and different option for those who want to live in harmony with the natural ecosystem without giving up the comforts of modern life. The competition sought to conceptualize five exclusive lodging units elevated on one or two levels, with the particularity of maintaining a ground floor free for circulation and direct interaction with the existing trees, privileging views of the surroundings.

First Prize “Bamboo Box” in Bern, Switzerland

First place was awarded to the “Bamboo Box” project from Bern, Switzerland. This project stands out for its avant-garde and rational architecture, which harmoniously integrates with the natural environment. An elevated box, with semi-perforated walls highlighting views in all directions, creates a welcoming feel and showcases wildlife from the treetops. The functionality is based on three main elements: the Platform, the Housing and the Upper Roof.

Honorable mentions

The first honorable mention went to «Casa Ovalada» de Shanghai, China.

La Second honorable mention was awarded to “El Cangrejo” from Córdoba, Argentina. This project is inspired by the figure of the crab and seeks to achieve a natural coexistence with the palm trees. The design embraces the palm trees, creating an organic element that causes minimal visual and environmental impact. The unit is designed as a bridge between two palm trees, with services housed in the center and a clear division between public and private space. It offers both a social space that connects with the vertical circulation, with views of the heart of the island, and a quiet private part with sea views.

The third honorable mention went to «Cocoes Domus» de La Libertad, El Salvador. This project is located in an area surrounded by coconut trees and is inspired by them to create a place of rest. The distribution of the spaces is organized radially, with a bedroom on the axial axis and a bathroom and kitchenette area attached to both sides. From the bedroom there is access to a sun terrace, which offers panoramic views of the natural landscape of Johnny Cay Island.

Finally, the fourth honorable mention went to “Camping Palmeras y Brisa” from Bogotá, Colombia. This project is conceived as a space for rest, tranquility and sharing in harmony with nature. Pathways, elevated rooms, open spaces and flexible furniture combine to provide guests with comfort without sacrificing adventure. The vertical structures merge with the surroundings, highlighting the importance of palm trees, sea and sand in Johnny Cay's landscape.

The winners and honorable mentions of the “Jungle Treehouse” contest will be displayed on the AG360 website (www.concursosag360.com) and in various important architectural sites worldwide. AG360 congratulates all participants and wishes them success in their future architectural projects.
